About Michelia
I'm a photographer and filmmaker, meaning I understand how faces read in motion. I was born in Arizona, educated in Portland, Oregon, before making my way to Istanbul, and eventually Amsterdam, where I have lived since 2013, now with my husband and daughter. I specialize in portrait and headshot photography, with an emphasis on bright, bold compositions. When photographing portraits for actors and performers, I truly believe it's important to showcase an accurate and captivating representation of who you are. You should look your best, but also like the person who enters the room during a casting session or shows up on a self-tape.
Through my filmmaking work and relationships, I am deeply immersed in the acting and performance world, and my work has been selected by Steve McCurry as part of Life Framer's international "World Travelers" award. Sessions are shot on location across Amsterdam, using available and natural light.
How I work
Every session is relaxed and collaborative. I give clear direction when needed, and keep quiet if we're in the flow. I always explain my process, and make sure we keep things natural and fun. The ultimate goal is a headshot that makes you look good, while still looking like you. I work in English and understand Dutch.
